BECOMING STRONGER EVERY DAY

Excerpts from a letter written by Alisha Glisson to Mark West, Director of Prison Programs for Theotherapy Seminars, Inc.

…I find myself praying for others more than myself all throughout the day even if I don’t know their names. I’ll just look at them and smile, praying as I do that God will bless them so that they can experience His love…asking Him to give them a better way to live so that they will live as He wants them to. It’s not easy but I become stronger every day.

People are so foolish at times. The Lord shows us His kindness so that we will change our hearts. Still, sometimes they just don’t understand. I will continue to encourage others to live the life to which God has called us…always accepting each other in love.

I tell everyone to read Mark 11:22 which reads, “HAVE FAITH IN GOD!” It’s a joyful feeling. If I’m home for Christmas I’d like to get everyone a Bible. There are so many wonderful, different kinds. I sent my sister the Holman CSB New Testamentand I underlined all the scriptures in red ink that I’ve studied. At least every one of them is praying…now I’ve got to get them to start reading the Bible. I believe in the end, it will all work out for all of us. There is so much to look forward to… “People are uncontrolled. But those who obey what they have been taught in God’s Word are happy!” I like it…I love it…I want some more of it!!!

I read a story about a 23 year old guy from Kingston Springs, Tennessee that got blown out of his tank in Baghdad about a year ago. He was left with no feet, mangled arms and burns over 60% of his body. Everyone else in the tank was killed. His condition is not much better. A surgery to improve the use of his fingers on one hand inadvertently caused previous skin grafts to break down…and the grafts on his legs are cracking as well, which may require beginning all over again at square one. He is tired and low in spirits. He needs our prayers. I sent him a very encouraging card I got from the chapel. I also wrote him a long letter “all about me”. I told him about my experiences and all that I’ve learned in these last four years. I also sent him a past copy of our Theotherapy newsletter.

Thank you for sending the “Facing Unresolved Conflicts”teacher’s manual and Mario’s books. I really appreciate it and will put them to good use. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family and our Theotherapy family and friends too! “Whoever loves his brother lives in the light and there is nothing to make him stumble.” I John 2:10.

In His love always,
Alisha

A note from the Editor: Many of you have asked about the outcome of Alisha’s recent trial. Sadly, she was turned down for Judgment of Acquittal and was remanded to the Tennessee Prison for Women to serve a life sentence. She remains hopeful that an appeal hearing will bring more favorable results. In the meantime, she does her best to parent her young daughter who is fast growing into a young lady and continues to encourage her fellow inmates to pursue their own journey of healing. Pray for God will to be done in this remarkable young lady's life.MW
